Fang YUAN serves as a Professor at the School of Music and Master of the Eighth College at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen). She is one of China's leading pianists and a Bösendorfer Artist. Her recordings are published by the world's leading classical music label SONY CLASSICAL.
Fang YUAN studied with Professor Yuan WU and Professor Gerhard Oppitz. She graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in 2008 with the highest degree in piano performance and chamber music that can be granted in Germany, which was certified by the Ministry of Education of the PRC. as a doctor in double majors. Fang YUAN became an Associate Professor at the Central Conservatory of Music at the age of 29. She was appointed as one of the first founding professors of the School of Music, CUHK-Shenzhen, and participated in the establishment of the Piano & Keyboard Division in 2021. Her students won the first prizes in the Golden Bell Award, the Wenhua Cup, the Xinghai Cup, and the Robert Schumann International Competition for Young Pianists. She is currently a Master of the Eighth College at CUHK-Shenzhen.
The Süddeutsche Zeitung praised her as "an amazing Chinese pianist who tugs at the heartstrings of the audience." She has performed worldwide with leading orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, China Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, China NCPA Orchestra, etc., under the batons of leading international conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Lawrence Foster and many more. She has performed as the leading artist in Phoenix TV's "Musical Gala for Chinese All Over the World in Spring Festival" and the "New Year Concert at the Great Hall of the People." She has also performed solo recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York and other famous concert halls. Her recordings have been broadcast on BBC Radio and Bavarian Radio. She was awarded the President's Exemplary Teaching Award of CUHK-Shenzhen and the "Shenzhen Youth May Fourth Medal."
