The proposed MA in Music Performance Programme and curriculum aim at producing learned professional performers. The Programme is unique in its overall design for an instrumentalist to go through a comprehensive training so that upon graduation, they will be versatile musicians capable to be a soloist and a member in chamber and orchestral groups. For voice graduates, they will be able to embark on a career in opera, musical theatre and other solo roles. For conducting students, they will contribute themselves locally and internationally. Some may also become community artists to help building up orchestra, both western and Chinese to enlighten the cultural life of the people. Likewise, the pianists can be a soloist and a competent accompanist.
This Programme further develops students’ practical skills and musicianship to become professional performers of high quality exceling in the international arena. The rapid economic growth in China in particular the GBA has an imminent need in providing citizens with a vibrant cultural life that is sustainable and forward looking. Music activity is undoubtedly one of the most important cultural activities in any society. Through the comprehensive training in music performance and musicianship, our graduates can contribute significantly to build the musical culture in Shenzhen, the GBA and China.
