Biography

Edoardo Turbil currently serves as a full-time Assistant Professor (Teaching) in the Piano & Keyboard Division at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He is regarded as one of the most brilliant Italian pianists of his generation. Praised by leading figures in the international music community, including Paul Badura-Skoda, he has been described as an "excellent pianist, with sensitivity and a well-developed technique."

As a Scarlatti expert, Turbil has performed as a recitalist, soloist with orchestras (Orchestra Filarmonica '900 del teatro Regio di Torino, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, etc.), and chamber musician in prestigious concert halls and festivals around the globe.

His notable performances include appearances in venues and institutions such as Shenzhen Concert Hall, Spoleto Festival of the Two Worlds, Frankfurt Alte Oper Mozart Saal, Turin Conservatory Theater "G. Verdi," New York Alice Tully Hall, Bologna Accademia Filarmonica Sala Mozart, Zurich Zunfthaus zur Waag, Hong Kong Lee Hysan Concert Hall, Beijing Central Conservatory Recital Hall, among others.

Turbil's distinctive and eclectic artistry reflects a synthesis of the great Italian and American piano traditions. In 2021, he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) degree from The Juilliard School's prestigious CV Starr Piano Performance Program under the mentorship of piano chair Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky. He previously studied with Maria Tipo, Solomon Mikowsky, and Andrea Lucchesini.

Throughout his career, Turbil has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Gold Medal with High Distinction at the Manhattan International Music Competition and Third Grand Prize along with the Best Performance of a Baroque Work Award (for Scarlatti Sonatas) at the Chicago International Music Competition. His solo recordings are featured on DaVinci Records, Centaur Records, KNS Classical, and soon NCPA.

In addition to his performance career, Turbil is a dedicated educator. He has taught at the Juilliard School (NYC), the Turin Conservatory, and the Livorno Conservatory, and has served as a substitute teacher at the Tianjin Juilliard School. He is a sought-after masterclass instructor at renowned institutions such as Shenzhen Lang Lang Music World, Associazione Culturale Rospigliosi, and Shenzhen Arts School. He regularly serves as a jury member for various competitions, the Macao Piano Competition Finals, Shenzhen Lang Lang Music World Piano Concerto Competition, Ningbo Piano Competition, Zhuhai Piano Competition, Xiamen 4th International Piano Competition, Guangzhou Blüthner-Internationales Festival der Musik und der dritte Deutsch-Carl Rönish-Internationale Klavierwettbewerb, and many more.

Since March 2023, Turbil has held leadership positions with the World Piano Teachers Association. He has also served as Artistic Director of the 2024 Centro Pecci Piano Festival in Prato, Italy.
